A little over a year ago, I
had just finished my first manuscript and was deciding what to do with it. I
knew I wanted it published, but how? My first thought was an agent, so I sent
queries to several of them. Nothing worked out.
I knew this story, was one
that needed to be told so I learned from a writer message board about small
publishers. From there, I found a friend of mine and learned she was being
published through a new(ish) small publisher of clean fiction. I also found
some other smaller publishers. I sent query letters to all of them… and waited
(and prayed).
After a whirlwind week of
offers and requests, I signed with Astraea Press and haven’t regretted it.
I love Astraea Press because
Stephanie Taylor, the owner, saw something in me that I didn’t even see
myself—a great writer. She’s the biggest cheerleader at AP (and that’s saying a
lot because we have many of them.) She’s patient, funny, and has the best staff
of editors and cover artists of any small publisher I’ve seen.
The other writers at Astraea
Press are amazing! I’ve made so many new friends, write on sprints with them,
am encouraged by them—we aren’t competitive, and that’s a good thing. We truly
want each other to be successful and cheer when we see a book’s ranking go up.
The main reason I love
Astraea Press is because I know when I pick up another AP book, it is clean,
well-written, professional, and entertaining. I’m proud to be part of Astraea
Press.
