Terrific Tuesday: New Release Through the Rabbit Hole

Lisa Kumar debuts here are Astraea Press with a book that is far from Alice and her Wonderland. This hole leads to a Fae realm as original as it gets. Please welcome Lisa and check out her release of Through The Rabbit Hole.

Blurb

Social worker Natalie Danvers never thought she would fall head first into her very own dimensional tear — straight into a fey lord’s lap. The handsome but infuriatingly vague Lorh insists she’s stuck in his land for three weeks and that only she can discover the reasons behind her appearance in TirAnn. Natalie’s convinced this is all nonsense until forgotten memories of Lorh and his siblings resurface and collide with reason. Just who and what is she to Lorh and his family?

Interview

A random fact about your story.
When I began the story, I had no idea how the hero and heroine’s past histories tied together.  When the larger pictured emerged, I was quite surprised at the results and the unique (at least to me) plot!

A random fact about you as an author.
Ever since high school, I thought about writing but never attempted it -- until about two years ago.

Favorite line in the story (can be funny, romantic, etc.)
“We have legends about round-eared humans.”  I love the whimsical otherworldly feel this line gives the hero.

How did you get the idea for your book?
I love paranormal and fantasy romance, but feel the shifter and vampire angle is hard to pull off unless the concept is something totally new and radical.  Mythology and folktales are an inspiration, so I looked to these.  I didn’t want characters descended from Greek or Roman gods, so I settled on the fey.

What are you currently working on?
I’m working on Mists of Eria, a fantasy romance undergoing critique and minor revisions.  It’s a full-length novel that will be complete at about one-hundred thousand words.  This story features a hot elf prince (not one of Santa’s helpers) and one mystified college student who wants to live a normal life.  Needless to say, that wish totally sails right out of the window and into said elf prince’s hands.

Is this your first published book?
Yes, it is, though I’ve had one short story published.

Vanilla or chocolate?
Chocolate for everything but ice cream.

As a child what did you want to be when you grew up?
A physical therapist or a psychologist.  When I was in college, I decided both required too much studying and work.  Now I look back and think, “Too much work?”  Writing, at least to me, isn’t the easiest option I could have picked.

How do you develop your plots and characters?
As I go along.  *Gives a rueful laugh*  Sometimes I feel like I should plot or outline, but I haven’t been able to do so.

Do you listen to music while writing?
Sometimes--it depends on my mood.  Music can help me become unstuck during a hard scene, but it can also serve as annoying background noise.

Plotter or Pantser?  Why?
Total pantser.  I think I like discovering the story as I go along.

Do you have a writing routine?
I write during the day, late in the evenings, and basically anytime I feel like it.

What inspires you?
Music and books.

Tell us something about yourself that your readers might not expect.
I like to walk and take Zumba.  I get some of my best ideas while exercising.

Favorite Muppet?
I watched the Muppets as a little child, but can’t remember which one I liked the best.  All I can say is it’s been so long ago!

Favorite movie and why?
I don’t watch very many movies now-a-days, but always loved ones like Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, and Ever After.

What are your goals for this year?
To find a home for Mists of Eria, start on the second in its series, and complete a few short stories.
